The Nevaton MC403 transducer is a pressure sensor with a gold-plated diaphragm, 12 mm in diameter. It is flat and small. If it is mounted in the surface area of a boundary (plate) like on the floor, on the walls, on the table etc, a number of advantages are gained: The sensitivity of the microphone doubles, the S/N ratio raises and the polar pattern becomes hemispherical.
This method minimizes the interference effects, which usually happen when microphones are placed near reflective surfaces.
The microphone has a vibration proof structure. It provides high output voltage and features a smooth frequency response for all angles. The mic can handle a maximum SPL of 142 dB.
The Nevaton MC403 uses transformerless circuitry, balanced output and operates on 9-52V phantom power. It has a ultra-low self-noise of only 6dBA!
A gold-plated XLR-connector is used as an output-connector.
Contruction of the Nevaton MC403
It has non-slip rubber-pads for horizontal positions, and specially threaded holes for mounting it on walls. The microphone is very small and unobtrusive and can be easily hidden on stages or conference tables.
